I know exactly what you mean. I can’t help but think of my own Pixel 3 wallpaper. For the most part it’s just a bunch of bright color to break up the black background of the phone. You can see a few of my favorites from the pixel 3xl far cry 5 wallpaper here.
There is another way to use the wallpaper I liked: to add some depth to your website. Using the 3xl far cry 5 wallpaper with a dark blue background to make the black of the device disappear and add some depth would be a great way to add some more visual impact to your website. The blue of the device is a very strong contrast to the black of the website.
It’s an interesting idea to use the wallpaper and the theme to break the black background of the phone. However, I think it is a bit of a stretch to use this as a main feature in a website. It’s just too much of a distraction for someone who is trying to be visually impactful. Perhaps in a future version, there would be a feature where your website would have a dark background and then the wallpaper was used to break up the black background.
