Every so often I see some of your images for this blog on some of the design blogs and have to get a little excited. I love the way you use the colors to create the mood for your images. You have great eye for detail.

Thank you, Scott, for your kind words. We often try to make our designs look “old-school,” but it’s not always possible to achieve that. I’ve always admired the old-school design, but have to admit that when you say it’s “old-school,” you don’t mean that it’s a period piece with an old, well-worn, hand-drawn style.

I think its a combination of both. The old-school design is about having your own designs on hand, but it also means that you make the style that you want your designs to appear. I would say, to many designers, the old-school design is like a big old, monochrome, hand-drawn piece of art that you could never take a picture of.

I would argue that it is a game that is unlike anything else I have ever seen at E3. The art style, the level design, the design of the characters, the voice acting, the music, the animation, the game-play mechanics, the story, and the game-specific information all look and feel like they could have come from anywhere in the universe.
