This song is the first song I ever wrote. I’ve always been a huge fan of Latin music so it was natural for me to pick an example of the language in the lyrics and create one of my own. Canción es ésta is actually the second song to be created for this project, the first being Canción de la vida, which I wrote for a different project.
Canción es ésta is my own take on that song, with all the Latin influences (which I love) and all the Latin sounds that it has. I just wanted to do something with it that felt more “Latin” and to me that is “Latin.
When I wrote the song canción de la vida, I wrote it in Latin because it was really good. But when I wrote it in Spanish I thought it was an evil song. I thought it might be kind of like a song I was about to write that sounded like the Latin version of the song. I wrote the song in Latin because I didn’t just write the song in Spanish, I wrote it in Latin because I thought it sounded good.
Canción is a Latin American dance song, so I think that makes a lot of sense. But, I still don’t think the Latin version sounds like a song I was about to write that sounds like the Latin version of the song. I think it’s better just to say that I wrote the song in Latin because it’s Latin. But I don’t know what I wrote in Spanish. I dont even know if that’s the Latin version of the song.
