I can’t help but want a more “self-aware” approach to our daily activities. I have been writing this for more than a decade now, mostly to give my wife, Kate, a good shot at a career in online marketing.
I can understand how some people might hate the idea of writing down their daily schedule for the day. I can understand the desire if you have to be accountable to a schedule, because you have a responsibility to your family. As long as we all want to write down our schedule, we all are aware of our responsibilities and we are paying the price of a life of unplugged productivity.
A lot of people feel that way, and I agree with them, but I disagree. What I am trying to say is that I don’t think that anyone should be forced to do the things that they should be doing. In fact, I think that the opposite is true. I think that the idea of having a “normal” schedule is a myth.
I disagree with that. I think that everyone should have a regular schedule. I think that this means that we should all have a regular life. We are the ones who decide what that life is. When we get up in the morning, when we go to work, when we have a family dinner, the list goes on and on, and it is this list that we make. We choose what to have for dinner, what to wear, what to eat, what to do….
The fact is that I am a man in a weird dream. That’s all I have for now, but right now I plan to get up in the morning, when I’m up and going to work, and go to bed. You know what I mean? I’m not going to go out for dinner at work, I’m going to go to bed. I’ve got a lot of dreams, and I’m going to get up and do it.
The “I’m up and going to work” habit is one of the most common things I see people do when they start their days at work. Its the same thing you do when you get up in the morning and do your job. Its a habit of which I think many people have a hard time breaking.
I have something that I’d like to do today. I really love the idea of the Im up and going to work. Maybe if Im up and doing the Im working with the Im up and the Im working with the Im working with the Im.
Im up and working might sound like a good idea, but it isn’t necessarily a good idea. Why? Because it doesn’t set a good precedent for you. You have to get up once in the morning and be ready to work. Once you have that habit, you don’t have the same mental focus to keep you on track.
I know I get this question quite a bit, and the answer is that a good plan is just that, a plan. A plan that you execute, that you follow through on, that you stick with. A plan that is designed to work for you and not just for you. A plan that is not just a list of things that you have to do. A plan that is a roadmap to a better tomorrow.
I see the IKEA desk planner as a tool that IKEA will be providing to customers who purchase their home’s new furniture. We’ve seen this before in the form of the IKEA wall planner.
